Description
The JP Enterprises Silent Captured Spring (JPSCS2-15H2) is a Gen 2 captured buffer-and-spring system for AR-15-type rifles, configured with the H2 buffer weight. It replaces the standard buffer and action spring with a single guided unit that rides on a captured rod, which reduces the spring twang and buffer rattle of a standard setup and smooths the cycling impulse.
JP recommends the H2 weight version for short-barreled rifles, suppressed rifles, rifles the maker recommends a heavy buffer for, select-fire rifles, and piston-operated rifles. Because the spring and weights are captured on the rod, disassembly does not launch loose parts. JP includes a spacer so the unit installs in both carbine- and rifle-length receiver extensions. JP lists the weight at 6.9 oz.
This is a Gen 2 unit, identified by a bronze guide rod (Gen 1 used a stainless rod). The distinction matters when ordering JP tungsten tuning weights or the maintenance kit, which are generation-specific. The reciprocating mass can be tuned using JP's tungsten weights for the SCS and VMOS carriers.
This system fits standard AR-15 carbine and rifle buffer tubes. It does not fit A5-length tubes without JP's separate A5-length spacer. Made in the USA.
