The Smart-Torq driver adjusts from 10 to 70 inch-pounds in 1 inch-pound steps, which covers almost every screw on a competition AR and optic mount. It clicks at the set torque so the user stops at the right spot. The 83-bit set is hollow-ground, so the bits sit flat in the slot and slip less, and the driver has a built-in LED ring that lights the screw over a dark receiver.
One thing to know: 70 inch-pounds is the ceiling. That covers optics, mounts, and most accessory screws, but it will not handle high-torque jobs like an AR barrel nut, which needs a wrench in the foot-pound range. This is a tool for precision work, not for building barrels. At $159 it is an investment, though a stripped optic screw on match morning costs more.

Description

The Real Avid Smart-Torq & Driver Master Set is a gunsmithing driver kit built around an adjustable torque driver and an 83-piece bit set. It is designed for the precision fastening work competitors do most: mounting optics, securing scope rings and mounts, and tightening accessory screws to the manufacturer's torque spec.
The Smart-Torq driver adjusts from 10 to 70 inch-pounds in 1 inch-pound increments and signals when the set torque is reached, so screws are tightened consistently rather than by feel. The driver includes 360-degree LED illumination to light the work area, and Real Avid's Force Assist feature aids proper torque application. The 83 bits are hollow-ground and black-oxide coated. Hollow-ground bits seat fully in the screw slot, which reduces the cam-out and slippage that can mar fasteners.
This is a torque-and-driver set for precision assembly and optic work. It is not intended for high-torque tasks such as AR-15 barrel nut installation, which require a wrench rated in foot-pounds.
