Description
The Magpul DAKA Soft Case SLR53 is the 53-inch soft rifle case in the DAKA line, sized for long rifles and shotguns. The shell is 600D TPU-coated fabric with RF-welded seams and closed-cell foam, and the walls are semi-rigid so the case stands up on its own and opens flat for loading. The zippers are YKK AquaGuard with 550 paracord pulls and they accept TSA-style locks.
The floor has six MOLLE-style base panels with DAKA Gear Straps included, so you strap the gun down instead of letting it slide. Five stretch mesh pockets each hold up to two PMAG 25 LR/SR GEN M3 mags, plus a zippered mesh organizer and a large document pocket. Dual carry handles, stowable attachment points for a sling or strap that take QD, Paraclip, and MASH hook, and an RF-welded ID panel with a paint pen dot matrix. Magpul lists the weight at 6.65 lb.
Size note: the interior is 52.5 inches long. That fits most full-length precision rifles and 28-inch-barrel shotguns. For a 16-inch carbine you are carrying a lot of empty case, so look at the SR44 or SC35.

Who should skip it
If you fly with rifles, this is not a hard case and will not pass on its own. Get the DAKA Hard Case LR53. If your longest gun is an AR carbine, the DAKA Soft Case SC35 is lighter and cheaper.
