Description
The Luth-AR .223 Rifle Buffer Spring is a replacement action spring for an AR-15 with a fixed A2 rifle stock and rifle-length receiver extension. Buffer springs are wear items. When one gets short or starts to sound crunchy, the bolt starts short-stroking or slamming, and a fresh spring for under five dollars fixes it. This is the rifle-length spring, not the carbine spring.
Luth-AR specs it at 44 coils and 13 1/4 in. long, which is the mil-spec count for a rifle-length A2 buffer system. It weighs about 2.1 oz. Installation is a five minute job: push in the buffer retainer, pull the old buffer and spring out of the receiver extension, slide the new spring on the buffer, and put them back. Made in the USA.
Heads up: this spring is for A2 rifle-length receiver extensions only. It is too long for a carbine buffer tube. For a collapsible stock, use the Luth-AR 223 Carbine Buffer Spring we carry instead.

Who should skip it
If your rifle has a collapsible stock, this is the wrong spring. Get the LUTH AR 223 Carbine Buffer Spring. If you are tuning a competition gun for a lighter recoil pulse, a flat-wire or a matched buffer and spring system will do more than a mil-spec replacement.
