This is the cotter-style retainer pin that holds the firing pin in an AR-15 bolt carrier. It is a small, inexpensive part that gets removed every time the bolt is disassembled, and it is easy to lose or bend. Keeping a spare in the range bag means a dropped or damaged retainer pin does not end a range day. There is nothing to tune; it either holds the firing pin or it does not.

The JP Firing Pin Retainer Pin is a cotter-style retaining pin for an AR-15 bolt carrier, sized for .223/5.56 carriers. It holds the firing pin in place inside the carrier and is removed and reinstalled whenever the bolt is disassembled for cleaning.
This is a standard replacement part. It installs during normal bolt carrier group reassembly and requires no modification. Because it is small and handled often, it is a sensible spare to keep on hand.
