Extractor tension is one of the quiet causes of failure-to-extract problems on an AR-15. This kit refreshes that tension. It is the replacement spring assembly and rubber plug insert for mil-spec-compatible .223/5.56 extractors, which is the part that wears and softens over a high round count.
JP lists the spring assembly as compatible with its Enhanced Extractors for .223/5.56 as well as 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC II, and .224 Valkyrie. It is an inexpensive maintenance item worth keeping on hand. If a bolt is starting to short-stroke or leave cases in the chamber, a tired extractor spring is a common and cheap thing to rule out first.

Description

The JP Enhanced Extractor Kit is a replacement spring and rubber plug for mil-spec-compatible .223/5.56 extractors. These parts maintain extractor tension, which is what lets the extractor pull a spent case from the chamber reliably as the action cycles.
JP states the spring assembly is compatible with its Enhanced Extractors for .223/5.56, and also with 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC II, and .224 Valkyrie bolts. Over a high round count the spring and plug soften, which can show up as extraction problems. Replacing them restores tension. This is a maintenance part, not a tuning upgrade, and installs during standard bolt service.
