Description

The Strike Industries Steel Hex Forward Assist is a direct replacement for the factory forward assist on an AR-15 upper. The face is cut in a hex pattern that gives your palm flat edges to push against, with or without gloves. Unlike Strike’s aluminum triangle version, this one is heat-treated carbon steel all the way through, so it is the pick if you actually use the forward assist to seat a round on a dirty chamber.

It fits mil-spec AR-15 and M16 pattern uppers with a standard forward assist housing. The package includes the forward assist assembly, a spring, and a roll pin. Drive out the factory roll pin, pull the old assembly, drop this one in with the new spring, and drive in the new pin. Strike says the included spring and pin are upgraded over mil-spec.

Who it’s for

AR builders who want a steel forward assist with a better grip face than the stock round button, at under twenty-five dollars, for a duty or match upper.

Who should skip it

If you are chasing weight on a lightweight build, the Strike Industries Lightweight Forward Assist we carry is aluminum and about a tenth of an ounce lighter. If your upper has no forward assist housing, none of these fit.
